This position is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience in non-profit project management and lead innovative grass-roots activities in the field. The ideal candidate will combine experience in humanitarian aid and management/administration, and be willing to relocate to Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
About the program
IsraAID/Tevel’s program in Haiti started in 2010. IsraAID arrived in Haiti 4 days after the devastating January 2010 earthquake, and initial efforts focused on relief and emergency aid. Since then, IsraAID and Tevel’s goal has been to facilitate and empower local communities and organizations. The current projects include a psycho-social training program for local organizations who work with survivors of GBV (Gender Based Violence). We are also implementing an agricultural mentoring program for 4 groups of farmers in the Leogane area, the epicentre of the earthquake.
Responsibilities
1. Coordinating the implementation of IsraAID/Tevel’s Haiti projects –psycho-social training program in Port-au-Prince and agricultural mentoring in Leogane;
2. Maintaining regular contact with the partner organizations in Haiti as well as the psycho-social professional coordinator in Israel, ability to develop new partnerships and conduct needs assessments;
3. Mentor and accompany partner organizations in their local service provision and organizational efficiency.
4. Maintain regular communication with the head office in Israel, as well as existing and potential donors;
5. Manage the logistics, finances, and general administration of the country program, including but not limited to: building work plans, organizing workshops, accompanying IsraAID’s trainers in the field, book-keeping, reporting, documentation, organizing workshops and attending high-level meetings.
Requirements
1. Experience in project management , preferably (but not limited to) non-profits, specifically in development/ humanitarian work;
2. Experience in grant writing/ book keeping/administration;
3. Previous knowledge or experience with Gender-Based Violence highly recommended;
4. Must be able to work independently, must be a flexible and resourceful individual
5. Computer literate, advanced knowledge of excel;
6. Native English speaker, French is a significant advantage;
7. One-year commitment;
8. Be legally employable in the State of Israel and own a bank account.
Conditions
1. Relocation to Haiti, and living in Port-au-Prince;
2. IsraAID/Tevel will cover all living expenses including: Flights to Israel (every three months), accommodation, transportation and food;
3. The position is a paid one for a period of 1 year, with the first 3 months as a trial.
